The Dhaka North City Corporation on Friday began digging a section of the Ramchandrapur canal that was recovered after demolishing illegal structures, including parts of the Sadeeq Agro Farm allegedly built on the canal鈥檚 land in Mohammadpur Beribandh area.

The DNCC began the work at 11:00am and continued until 3:30pm, said DNCC information officer Peal Hasan.聽聽


He also said that the city corporation will resume its eviction drive and the canal digging on Saturday.

On Thursday, the DNCC demolished 60 structures, including two structures of Sadeeq Agro Farm, in the Shatmashjid Housing area and along the road in the 1-No Nabinagar Housing area of Mohammadpur Beribandh.

Approximately 10 bigha of land was recovered through the drive.聽

The Sadeeq Agro Farm occupied approximately 15 decimals of land of the canal and 33 decimals of land on the road in the Nabinagar Housing area, said DNCC executive magistrate Mutakabbir Ahmed on Thursday.

Sadeeq Agro, established in 2010, came to light once again after a controversy over a Tk 15 lakh goat which they reportedly sold to Mushfiqur Rahman Ifat, son of former National Board of Revenue member Matiur Rahman.
