The Dhaka North City Corporation demolished the entire Sadeeq Agro dairy farm on Saturday for illegal construction along the Ramchandrapur canal and operating without a trade license.

DNCC Zone-5 zonal executive officer and executive magistrate Mutakabbir Ahmed led the eviction drives for the third consecutive day in the presence of the corporation’s chief estate officer Mohammad Mahay Alam and ward no 33 councillor Asif Ahmed.

DNCC officials stated that parts of Sadeeq Agro were built occupying the land of the canal, while the rest of the farm was situated on the bank of the canal.

‘We have demolished the entire structure of Sadeeq Agro for constructing it on the canal and its adjacent areas. Also, the farm was constructed in a residential area without obtaining trade licenses from the DNCC,’ Mutakabbir Ahmed told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ·.

He mentioned that Sadeeq Agro failed to provide valid documents during the eviction drive.

He also noted that a High Court order banned any construction within 30 feet of the floodplain zone, adding, ‘We have followed the High Court directives during the eviction drive.’

Sadeeq Agro owner Imran Hossain, also the president of the Bangladesh Dairy Farmers Association, could not be reached despite several attempts over phone.

Sadeeq Agro, established in 2010, came into the spotlight again, following controversy over a Tk 15 lakh goat reportedly sold to Mushfiqur Rahman Ifat, son of former National Board of Revenue member Matiur Rahman.

The goat was not handed over to Ifat, following the controversy after a photo of him holding the goat went viral in social media.

On Thursday, the DNCC began evicting 60 illegal structures, including two of Sadeeq Agro Farm, at Shatmashjid Housing and along road of 1 no Nabinagar Housing area of Mohammadpur Beribandh.

During the drive that began at 10:00am on Saturday, the DNCC authorities demolished nine pacca structures, a housing gate, and several small structures.
