Leaders of Amar Bangladesh Party asserted on Monday that the current Awami League government had no legitimate right to pass the national budget in parliament, as lawmakers were not elected by the people.

During a press conference at the party’s central office, the convener, former bureaucrat AFM Solaiman Chowdhury stated that the last general elections were one-sided, with most political parties rejecting the polls.

‘The candidates of the ruling Awami League and its dummy aspirants participated in the elections, where a few voters cast their votes. So, it was a dummy election,’ Solaiman Chowdhury added.

He further claimed that the present parliament lacked the authority to pass the national budget.

Other speakers at the press conference included the party’s member secretary Mojibur Rahman Monju and central leaders Asaduzzaman Fuaad and Abdul Wahab Minar.
