
The Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation seized 4.42 kilogrammes of gold from a flight at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Bangladesh capital Dhaka early Wednesday.
The gold bars were seized from a flight of SalamAir Airlines coming from Muscat in Oman at about 5:30am, said Pradeep Kumar Sarker, assistant director of the airport CIID circle.
The estimated market value of the seized gold bars is Tk 4.5crore.
Pradeep said that two heavy objects wrapped in black scotch tape were found in the luggage cabin above seats 2 (D-E-F).
The two heavy objects were taken to the inventory of the two customs halls and 38 gold bars were found after cutting the tape.
The seized gold bars were sent to the customs warehouse of Dhaka Customs House.
