
The first-ever Plastination Laboratory and Anatomy Museum Complex was opened in the country’s Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University on Wednesday.
The complex was established at the anatomy department of the university, said a press release.
The BSMMU vice-chancellor Professor Dr Deen Mohd Noorul Huq inaugurated the complex as chief guest.
It is not possible to become a good doctor if she or he is not skilled in anatomy. Therefore, to become a skilled doctor, it is necessary to have adequate knowledge of anatomy, said the VC.
Mentioning plastination is a state-of-the-art method of organ preservation, the VC also said, ‘A fellowship programme based on this approach would benefit medical students across the country, which would further enrich medical education and research.’
He also added that the BSMMU would take necessary initiatives to launch a fellowship programme in this regard at the university.
The BSMMU vice-chancellor (academic) Professor Dr Mohammed Atiqur Rahman, vice-chancellor (research and development) Professor Dr Moniruzzaman Khan, registrar Professor Dr ABM Abdul Hannan, proctor Professor Dr Md Habibur Rahman Dulal, anatomy department chairman Professor Dr Laila Anjuman Banu, among others, were present at the programme.
