Twenty-two people have been recognised as Agriculturally Important Person-2021 for their contribution in the country’s agriculture sector.

They will receive awards under five categories, and they will enjoy the same benefits as the commercially important persons for one year, said an agriculture ministry press release on Friday.


Channel i managing director Shykh Seraj, Tilottama founder Sahela Abedin and Dandiya CIG Women’s Cooperative Society president Shikha Rani Chakraborty have been selected in ‘agricultural organisations recognised or registered by the government’ category.

AKM Fareyzul Haque Ansarey, MA Matin, Oli Ullah and Swapan Kumar Das have been selected in ‘agricultural innovation varieties/technology category’.

Besides, 10 are named in ‘agricultural production/commercial farm establishment and agro-processing industry’ category while two are named in ‘production of exportable agricultural products’ and three in ‘Bangabandhu national agriculture award’ category for their contributions in agriculture sector.

The prizes will be handed over to the awardees at an award ceremony on Sunday.
