Local administration seized a duplex house of former inspector general of police Benazir Ahmed and his family at Rupganj in Narayanganj on Saturday.
The Narayanganj district administration and District Anti-Corruption Commission sent a team of officials to seize the house in Ananda Housing Society area at Rupganj following a court order.
ACC deputy director for public relations Aktarul Islam confirmed this.
Narayanganj deputy commissioner Mohammad Mahmudul Haque and officials of local Rupganj upazila administration and the commission were present at that time.
The confiscated house will now be under the control of Narayanganj district administration until further orders from the court.
Dhaka metropolitan senior special judge Mohammed Ash-Shams Joglul Hossain on June 12 ordered the seizure of the house and some other assets of Benazir and his family, accepting a petition submitted by the commission.
The duplex house on a 24-katha plot in Dakkhin Bagh area has the Demra-Ichhapur road on one side and an artificial lake of the nearby Ananda Housing Society on the other.
It was built in 2022 at Rupganj where Benazir used to come when he was in service.
Earlier, the local administration also took over a resort in Gopalganj, four flats in Gulshan in the capital, and a 25-acre garden house in Bandarban owned by Benazir and his family after being appointed as receivers following court orders.
The commission, based on a media report, decided on April 18 to investigate allegations of amassing illegal wealth by Benazir and his family.
Benazir and his family, however, left the country in May amid the graft allegations and did not appear before the commission inquiry teams as per schedules.
