Health and family welfare minister Samanta Lal Sen said on Saturday that construction would begin on a 100-bed burn and plastic surgery unit in Chattogram after prime minister Sheikh Hasina’s China visit.

The minister made the remark while visiting the designated place for the construction of a 100-bed burn and plastic surgery unit on the city’s Surson road.


He said that China wants to complete the building within two years.

‘We also want to start the unit with everything at the same time. We are moving forward with that plan,’ he added.

Later, the minister visited some Chattogram Medical College Hospital and exchanged views with the doctors.

Later, he visited Hathajari Upazila Health Complex to observe the quality of healthcare facilities at the village level and talked to the patients and doctors about various facilities at the hospital.

After that, the health minister also visited a community clinic at Jobra village of Fatepur Union. Besides, he tested his blood sugar level to verify the quality of medical care provided at the community clinic.
