
At least six people, including a mother and her daughter, were killed in separate road accidents in Munshiganj, Jaipurhat, Dinajpur and Bagerhat districts on Saturday.
抖阴精品 correspondent in Munshiganj reported that a mother and her 10-month baby died on the spot as an easy bike was hit by a truck of Shah Cement Industries Limited on the Sipahipara-Muktarpur road in Munshiganj.
The deceased are Lipi Begum, 35, and her 10-month baby Alisha of Anandapur village under Mollakandi union at Munshiganj Sadar.
Eyewitnesses said that Lipi was going towards Sipahipara on an easy bike with her daughter Alisha.
They died on the spot when the truck hit the easy bike at about 5:00pm.
Confirming the death, Munshiganj Sadar police station officer-in-charge Aminul Islam said that the police were sent to the spot after receiving the news.
Earlier at noon, a woman was killed in a road accident on the Jaipurhat-Bogura highway in the Hichmi area under the sadar upazila in Jaipurhat, reported Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha.
The deceased is Rabeya Begum, 60, wife of Shamsul Haque of Paikar village under the sadar upazila in the district.
Jaipurhat Sadar police station officer-in-charge Humayun Kabir said that the accident took place as a truck hit her leaving her seriously injured when she was walking to the Hichmi Bazar on the side of the Joypurhat-Bogura highway at about 12:30pm.
She was taken to Jaipurhat General Hospital where the doctor on duty declared her dead, said the OC.
A case was filed in that connection, the OC added.
BSS also reported that a pedestrian was killed in a road accident after being hit by a pickup van on the Dinajpur-Gobindaganj regional highway in the Tatakpur Crossing area under Birampur upazila in Dinajpur at around 11:00am.
The deceased is Hossen Ali, 70, son of late Ishahak Ali of Tatakpur village of the upazila.
Police recovered the body from the spot and sent it to Dinajpur M Abdur Rahim Medical College and Hospital for an autopsy, said Birampur police station office-in-charge Subrata Kumar Sarkar.
A case was filed in this regard, he added.
United News of Bangladesh reported that a motorcyclist and a rickshaw-van passenger were killed in separate road accidents at Mollahat upazila in Bagerhat.
The deceased are Asad Sheikh, 40, son of Sadek Sheikh from Jugihati village in Khulna district, and Md Anwar, 35, son of late Salam Khan from the Gangni area of the upazila.
According to the police, an unidentified vehicle heading towards Dhaka from Khulna hit motorcyclist Asad at Kahalpur at about 7:30am, leaving him dead on the spot.
In another incident, a rickshaw-van passenger, Anwar, was killed after being hit by a bus in front of Sagar Filling Station at around 9:45am.
Mollahat highway police station officer-in-charge Sheikh Nuruzzaman confirmed that the bodies were recovered and sent to Mollahat Upazila Health Complex.
