
A Rangamati court on Monday accepted a petition for a revision of the rejection of the case for the abduction of Chittagong Hill Tracts-based woman leader Kalpana Chakma, who went missing after her abduction in Baghaichari of Rangamati on June 12, 1996.
The Rangamati District and Sessions Judge Court also fixed November 17 for the hearing of the petition.
The plaintiff鈥檚 lawyer,聽 Jewel Dewan, told 抖阴精品 that the court would recall the previous documents of the case and the order rejecting the case for further examination.
On April 23, the court accepted the final report submitted by the police clearing all suspects in the case, 28 years after the disappearance of Hill Women鈥檚 Federation organising secretary Kalpana Chakma.
The court also rejected a petition submitted by Kalpana鈥檚 brother Kalindi Kumar Chakma seeking further investigation into the case rejecting the final report submitted by police, clearing all the accused, including then army Lieutenant Ferdous Kaisar Khan.
Kalpana Chakma, 23, was allegedly abducted from her house in Baghaichhari on June 12, 1986, several hours before the seventh national election. She was campaigning for independent candidate Bijoy Ketan Chakma, then a senior presidium member of the Pahari Gana Parishad backed by all hill people organisations.
Kalpana鈥檚 brother Kalindi filed an abduction case with Baghaichhari Police Station against some security officers working in Rangamati, according to the case documents.
Police took almost 14 years to complete the probe and filed the first final report on May 21, 2010. The family rejected the report.
