A Chattogram court on Wednesday ordered the deputy inspector general of police, superintendent of police, and local police stations of the district to execute arrest warrants against the Chandanaish upazila parishad chairman Jasim Uddin.
On April 30, the court issued the warrant against Jasim, managing director of Ramada Hotel and chairman of Jesika Group, for embezzling Tk 115 crore from Padma Bank.
Judge Mujahidur Rahman of Chattogram Money Loan Court issued the order, asking the Chattogram DIG, superintendent and local police stations to arrest the accused and produce before the court.
Raihanul Wazed Chowdhury, lawyer of Padma Bank, said that the accused wilfully defaulted on a loan from the then Farmers Bank (now Padma Bank).
Jasim Uddin could not be reached despite repeated attempts over the phone.
