The authorities of Rajshahi University on Thursday postponed the orientation class for the freshers, who recently enrolled at the university under the 2023-2024 academic sessions, due to the ongoing indefinite strike by public university teachers and employees since July 1.
This is the second time the university authorities have postponed the freshers’ orientation due to the strike.
A press release signed by the RU public relations office administrator Professor Pranab Kumar Panday stated that classes under the 2023-24 academic sessions, scheduled to begin from July 15, had been postponed due to ‘unavoidable reasons’.
‘The new date for the classes will be informed later,’ it read.
Earlier, the authorities postponed the classes for the freshers, which were scheduled to begin on July 1, until July 15 after the university teachers went on strike on July 1 demanding the cancellation of the new universal pension scheme and the formation of a separate pay scale for them.
