As part of the anti-drug drives in the capital, members of Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested 20 people on charges of selling and consuming drugs during the last 24 hours till Friday morning.

According to a DMP press release, police conducted these operations against the drug sellers and consumers in different areas under various police stations of the metropolis. They also detained 20 drug traffickers and recovered huge drugs from their possessions.


During the anti-drug raids, police seized 239 pieces of contraband yaba tablets, 94 grams of heroin, 11.30 kilograms of cannabis (ganja) and 70 bottles of phensidyle syrup from their possessions, the release added.

Police filed 16 separate cases against the arrested in these connections with respective police stations under the Narcotics Control Act.
