
The leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League’s Eden College unit allegedly launched an attack on quota protesters and leaders of Socialist Students Front on Monday.
Witnesses said that at least 15 protesters were injured in the attack.
Samia Afroz, an Eden College management department student said, ‘Chhatra League attacked the protesters near the pond of the college when students were gathering there to participate in quota movement.’
She also said that the BCL Eden unit president Tamanna Riva, general secretary Razia Sultana along with 30 to 40 BCL activists took part in the attack which left Shahinur Shumi, Sumaiya Shaina, Sanjida Haq, Tamanna, Skya Islam and others injured.
Shahinur Shumi and Sanjida Haq were taken to Dhaka University Medical Centre for treatment.
Asked for comment, the BCL Eden College unit general secretary Razia Sultana claimed that fake news was spread to tarnish their image.
‘They came across our routine procession and we pushed them away,’ she said.
