University authorities announced the closure of public universities and halls across the country for an identified period on Wednesday.
However, students refusing to accept the directive confronted university administrations and law enforcers at different places throughout the day.
Many students at Dhaka University, Chittagong University, Rajshahi University, Jagannath University and others refused to leave the halls.
