Law, justice and parliamentary affairs minister Anisul Huq on Thursday said that a judiciary committee was formed to probe the deaths of students in the ongoing quota protest.

The law minister at a press briefing said that following prime minister Sheikh Hasina’s announcement, High Court Division judge, Justice Khandaker Diliruzzaman, was given the responsibility of judicial inquiry.

Students have been demonstrating to press their demand of quota reformation since July 1.

On Tuesday, at least six people were killed and scores were injured as students’ protests against the job quota across Bangladesh turned deadly amid attacks by police and ruling party supporters on protesters.

Later on Wednesday prime minister Sheikh Hasina during her address to nation committed to form the judiciary committee to investigate the deaths of the students.
