Law minister Anisul Huq said on Sunday that the government would issue a gazette notification on Tuesday regarding the quota in government jobs following the verdict delivered by the Supreme Court.

He also said that the High Court verdict issued on October 4, 2018, regarding the quota system in government jobs would be ineffective automatically following the court verdict.

Anisul came up with the remarks while addressing a press briefing at his residence in Dhaka after the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court delivered its verdict regarding quotas in government jobs on Sunday.

The Supreme Court in its verdict asked the government to recruit 93 per cent job seekers on the basis of their merits and appoint the remaining 7 per cent of the job seekers maintaining 5 per cent quota for children of freedom fighters, one per cent each for small ethnic minority communities, physically challenged and third gender community people.

Welcoming the SC verdict on the quota in government jobs, Anisul Huq also termed the verdict as judicious.聽聽
