The Anti-Corruption Commission on Thursday filed a case against MM Jamil Ahmed, deputy general manager of the Bangladesh House Building Finance Corporation in Barishal, on charges of obtaining a job as son of a freedom fighter though his father was not a freedom fighter.
ACC assistant director Ashikur Rahman filed the case with its integrated district office in Khulna, said ACC public relations officer Aktarul Islam.
According to the case statement, MM Jamil Ahmed, son of late Akman Uddin Mina, falsely claimed that his father was a genuine freedom fighter in order to obtain a freedom fighter certificate.
Using this certificate, Jamil Ahmed secured a job at the Bangladesh House Building Finance Corporation under the freedom fighter quota, it said.
The case statement also stated that he was accused of embezzling a total of Tk 1,31,76,734, which he received as salary and allowances from April 2000 to December 2023.
