
The Jatiya Party has extended its full support to the student movement for reforming the quota system in government jobs.
The decision was taken in a joint meeting of party presidium members and members of the parliament held at the party鈥檚 Banani office where chairman of the party and also leader of the opposition Ghulam Muhammad Quader chaired.
After the meeting, secretary general of the party Mujibul Haque Chunnu read out the resolution of the meeting and said that his party would continue to extend its full support to the student movement for reforming the quota system in government jobs.
The party condemned the government鈥檚 steps for using law enforcers to control the nonviolent movement of the students and expressed solidarity with the family members affected during actions applying force to control the movements.聽
The party demanded investigation into the killings forming a neutral commission.
It also demanded trial of those responsible for the atrocities.
The party also demanded stopping arrest and torture of the students and release of arrested leaders.
The party also demanded compensation for the family members of the affected students fulfilling all the nine-point demand of the students.
The meeting demanded reopening of internet and all social medias and reopening of all educational institutions immediately.
Senior co chairman of the party Anisul Islam Mahmud, secretary general Mujibul Haque Chunnu, co chairman ABM Ruhul Amin Hawlader, presidium members SM Faisal Chisti, Mir Abdus Sabur Asud, Jahirul Islam Jahir, member of the parliament Masud Uddin Chowdhury and others spoke at the meeting.
