
Renowned singer Hassan Abidur Reja Jewel died at the age of 56 in Dhaka on Tuesday.
He is survived by his widow and a daughter.
Lyricist Asif Iqbal told the United News of Bangladesh that he had been battling cancer for many years, and died while undergoing treatment at the United Hospital.Â
His namaz-e-janaza was held at Azad Mosque in Gulshan after asr prayers and buried at Banani Graveyard.Â
Born on September 29, 1968, Jewel began his career as an activist of the Shabdawali Theatre in Barishal.Â
In 1993, his first album ‘Kuasha Prahar’ was released. His albums include ‘Ek Bikele’, ‘Amar Achhe Andhakar’, ‘Ekta Manush’, ‘Beshi Kichhu Noy’, ‘Bedona Shudhui Bedona’, ‘Dorja Khola Barhi’ and ‘Emon Keno Holo’.
