Seventy two eminent citizens in a statement on Tuesday strongly condemned the wholesale arrests of students via block raids and the reported torture under the guise of remand following the countrywide student protests.聽

Seeking justice for the people who were killed centring on the protests, they demanded thorough investigation of the incidents happened during the quota reform movement by international organisations.聽聽


Calling for an immediate stop to these killings, they also emphasised refraining from employing force and lethal weapons against unarmed students.

The signatories to the statement included Justice Mohammad Abdur Rouf, Professor Anwarullah Chowdhury, Professor Mahbub Ullah, poet Al Mujahidi and poet Abdul Hye Sikder.
