The pro-Awami League ‘Blue Panel’ teachers of Dhaka University on Thursday held a press conference calling for the security of everyone on campus, including students and teachers.

They urged the DU administration to conduct a fair investigation into all untoward incidents that occurred during the student quota reform movement and hold those responsible accountable.

They also called for the immediate resumption of educational activities to ensure a positive learning environment at the university.

The teachers further requested the administration to ensure that only regular and legally enrolled students are present in the university halls.

Reading from a written statement, panel convener professor M Amzad Ali expressed regret over the deaths and injuries that occurred during the protest.

While welcoming the government’s decision to implement the Supreme Court’s order for quota reform through a gazette notification, he expressed concern that a vested quarter and anti-independence forces were involved in anti-state activities, including murder, destruction of public and private properties, and nationwide violence, in an attempt to divert the peaceful protest.

The panel condemned these groups for allegedly conspiring to transform the students’ rights movement into an effort to overthrow the government.

They urged students to withdraw from the movement now that their demands had been met and to contribute to ensuring a healthy educational environment.
