State minister for posts, telecommunications and information technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak on Friday begged apology to youths of the country for doing anything wrong centring the quota reform movement.
He said this at a discussion on the occasion of National Mourning Day at his residence in Natore on Friday afternoon.
‘If I have done anything wrong to the young generation, I apologise publicly. I am taking responsibility for the internet disruption and failure to prevent rumours on social media. I promise to accept any decision,’ he said.
He said that he was willing to take any decision.
Mentioning that a distance has been created between the students and the government, he said, ‘I think that the distance that has been created is not the fault of the students. It’s our fault. This is our responsibility. We have failed to fulfill our responsibilities. There is no way we can avoid this failure. This failure is mine too.’
The state minister also said that the distance that was created could never be bridged by making tough decisions.
The problem should be solved with the right decision, he said, adding that if the authorities are sensible, sit with them with love and compassion instead of taking the hard decision, the misunderstanding could be removed.
