
Most of the government officials and employees on Tuesday left Bangladesh Secretariat in the early afternoon over security concerns.
They left the secretariat in the capital between 12:00 noon and 1:00pm.
Some of them said that they were leaving amid security concerns amid the absence of police at the secretariat.
Many government officials also left their offices elsewhere much before 5:00pm on the day.
Many did not go to the private offices in the city on the day.
Foreign ministry officials also left their office at Segun Bagicha about 1:00pm soon after the secretary for the maritime affairs unit held a meeting with senior officials at the ministry.
No police or any uniformed security personnel were seen at the main gate of the foreign ministry.
All the government, semi-government, autonomous and semi-autonomous offices, private establishments and educational institutions reopened on Tuesday as the curfew was withdrawn at 6:00am on the day.
The Inter Services Public Relations Directorate issued a press release in this regard on Monday night hours after Sheikh Hasina resigned as prime minister and fled to India amid a mass uprising led by student protesters.
Many officials arrived at their offices at the secretariat on Tuesday morning.
Between 12:00 noon and 1:00pm, many were seen leaving the secretariat on foot or in cars.
At that time a rumour spread inside the secretariat that they would be under attack and the security personnel would not save them.
They said that they found a few army personnel had been maintaining the main entrance in absence of police since the morning.
However, some officials said that the police were present in plainclothes following widespread news of attacks on police.
Many government staff also were seen leaving their offices in the Karwan Bazar area at about 3:00pm.
Some of them confirmed 抖阴精品 that they were leaving early as their homes were far from their offices and as they did not get official vehicles on the day.
Many private offices in the city opened on the day with very few employees doing office.
Some private jobholders said that they were doing office from home, while some did not go to offices over security concerns.聽聽 聽
