Senior lawyer of the Supreme Court Md Asaduzzaman has been appointed as the attorney general for Bangladesh.
The law ministry in a notification said on Thursday that the president, Mohammed Shahabuddin, gave the appointment as per Article 64(1) of the constitution.

The post of attorney general fell vacant after AM Amin Uddin resigned citing his difficulties on Wednesday, two days after prime minister Sheikh Hasina resigned and fled the country in the face of student movement against discrimination and for reforms in the public job quota.
‘Now I am not in a position to continue my duties and responsibilities as attorney general for Bangladesh,’ Amin said in his resignation letter addressing to the president.
Earlier on Tuesday, additional attorney general SK Md Morshed resigned citing the same reason.
