Activities in the country鈥檚 administrative hub Bangladesh Secretariat remained quite limited for the second day on Thursday after the student-led mass protests ousted Sheikh Hasina from power on Monday.

Besides, demonstrations by the public officials and employees at the ministry of public administration in the secretariat against discriminations over payment, posts and positions continued on the eve of the weekend.

The transport pool under the public administration ministry, meanwhile, was busy to accommodate vehicles for the interim caretaker administration.

Around 22 cars were seen readied by the transport pool by afternoon.

Like Wednesday, members of the Ansars and Village Defence Party were maintaining security along with the army personnel at the secretariat.

On Tuesday, most of the government officials and employees on Tuesday left Bangladesh Secretariat in the early afternoon over security concerns because of absence of police at the secretariat.聽聽聽聽聽聽聽

Some police, however, were seen in plainclothes on the day at the secretariat.

Speculation ran high among the mid-ranking bureaucrats who said that changes in the secretaries of key ministries and divisions were imminent.

Changes in the secretary post of the key ministries are likely to take place with the appointment of advisers of the interim government.

The public officials said that activities at the secretariat would start fully from the next week as the interim government was sworn in and portfolios were distributed.
