The Bangladesh national cricket team is set to leave Dhaka for their two-match Test series in Pakistan on Monday, a Bangladesh Cricket Board source revealed.

The team was scheduled to leave for Pakistan on August 17, with the first Test scheduled to begin on August 21 in Rawalpindi, followed by the second in Karachi starting on August 30.

‘The team will leave Dhaka on Monday, August 12, around 4:00pm,’ a BCB official, citing anonymity, told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ·.

BCB cricket operations in-charge Shahriar Nafees told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· that the Pakistan Cricket Board had promised to facilitate Bangladesh’s early arrival due to the current situation of the country, which did not allow the Tigers to begin training, which was scheduled for August 3, in time.

‘Everybody knows about the situation in the country. PCB told us they would facilitate if we decided to go there earlier than planned,’ Nafees said.

However, he did not confirm that the team was leaving on Monday, stating that they are yet to make the decision as discussions were ongoing.

A student-led mass movement left Bangladesh in turmoil in recent weeks, which saw the resignation of Sheikh Hasina as prime minister and her fleeing of the country, leading to the formation of an interim government.

Due to the situation, Bangladesh A team’s Pakistan tour was also rescheduled, with the team leaving on August 10, four days after the initially planned departure, which led to the two-match four-day series beginning on August 13.

The first four-day match of that tour will include Bangladesh national team players such as Mushfiqur Rahim, Mominul Haque, Zakir Hasan, and Nayeem Hasan.

BCB, though, are yet to announce the team for the national team’s Pakistan series.

Ahead of the series, the team started training on Friday.
