
Local people alleged that two bombs were blasted in front of a Hindu temple in Munshiganj鈥檚 Sirajdikhan upazila by men paid by a local Awami League leader to spread panic.
The incident occurred about 11:30pm on Friday in front of the Shree Shree Radhagabindha Temple in Furaish village under Malkhanagar union.
Union council member Delwar Hossain said that local people detained Rifat, 21, and Samit Bepari, 19, for聽 their involvement in the incident, but Samit managed to flee. Both of them are the residents of Furaish village.聽
Rifat confessed that Masud Khan, general secretary of the Malkhanagar union Awami League, directed them to blast the bomb, said the union council member.
Another person named Tuhin, 20, from Kazirbag village, was also with them, he said referring to Rifat鈥檚 confession.
Since the Sirajdikhan police had not resumed duty, Rifat was in the custody of union council member Delwar, but he fled before being handed over to the army on Saturday morning.
When contacted, Awami League leader Masud denied the allegation, stating that he had heard the boys were pressured into naming him.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sabbir Ahmed said that he was informed about the incident and asked the villagers not to mistreat the detainees.
