A murder case was filed on Sunday against 103 people, including a lawmaker and Awami League leaders and activists, in connection with shooting and killing of three students during the anti-discrimination student movement rally in Pabna.聽聽

Dulal Uddin Master, father of a deceased, Jahidul Islam, filed the case with the Pabna police station at about 12:15am on Sunday, said Pabna police station officer-in-charge Roshan Ali.


The accused included former lawmaker from Pabna Sadar constituency and the district AL general secretary Golam Faruk Prince, the district organising聽 secretary and former chairman of Bhandara union, Abu Saeed Khan, former district Bangladesh Chhatra League president and senior joint convener of Jubo League Shibli Sadiq, former district AL publicity secretary Kamil Hossain, district AL joint secretary and former mayor of Pabna municipality Kamrul Hasan Mintu, Pabna municipality AL organising secretary and upazila chair Shahin Hossain, mayor of Pabna municipality Sharif Uddin Pradhan as well as leaders and activists of district and upazila AL,聽 Jubo League, Swechchhasebak League and other associate bodies.聽聽

According to the case statement, agitating students from various institutions began a procession from Pabna Government Edward College and staged a protest at the traffic intersection at around 11:30am on August 4.

At around 12:30pm, 50 to 60 leaders and activists of the AL and its associate bodies, including former lawmaker Golam Faruk, Abu Saeed, and Shibli Sadiq, suddenly attacked the protesters with firearms and sharp weapons.聽

During the attack, Jahidul, a student of Pabna Polytechnic Institute and Mahabub Islmam Niloy, a student of Shahid M Monsur Ali College were killed, and more than a hundred were injured by their gunfire.

Another school student named Fahim Hossain Razzak, died while undergoing treatment at Pabna General Hospital on the same day.
