Chief of army staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman said on Monday that around 30 crimes against the minority communities were committed in 20 districts across the country in recent times.

‘Most of these incidents were looting and arson of temples, while most of the incidents were related to politics, said the army chief while responding to journalists at Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna.

He called upon the political parties to shun all violence and do politics for the people.

‘The situation will come to normalcy very soon. We will return to the cantonment when the police force resumes its operations properly,’ said Waker-Uz-Zaman.

‘More than 90 per cent police stations have started operations across the country while 85 per cent of police stations have started operations in Dhaka, he added.

The situation would improve more, and there is an expected improvement of the law and order situation in the country, he said.
