
Khondoker Rashed Maqsood was on Sunday appointed as chairman of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission for a four-year term.聽
According to a circular issued by the Financial Institutions Division of the Ministry of Finance, the order will be implemented immediately.
Rashed Maqsood is currently an adviser for strategy and business development with International Finance Corporation.
He was the managing director of Standard Bank and the managing director, as well as CEO of NRB Commercial Bank.
Previously, he was the country officer of Citibank NA Bangladesh. He also worked as the managing director of Citibank Indonesia.
Earlier August 13, the ministry appointed economist M Masrur Reaz as BSEC chairman, but Masrur declined the chairmanship on Saturday.
The August 13 circular was cancelled by another circular issued by the FID on Sunday.
Earlier, Shibli Rubayat-Ul Islam resigned from the post of chairman of BSEC on August 11, following the resignation of Sheikh Hasina as prime minister and her fleeing from the country.
