The board of trustees of the North South University has decided to waive 20 per cent of the tuition fees and 100 per cent of all other fees of all students admitted in the summer semester of 2024.
The decision was made because the current semester was affected by the recent anti-discrimination student movement and the resulting political changes in the country, said a press release on Monday.
The NSU has also decided to cancel all fees related to student internships starting in the summer semester of 2024.
The board of trustees of the university has also announced plans to introduce student transport services.
‘Several initiatives are being taken to focus on the students’ mental health. These include a new online (via app and hotline) counselling programme and a new on-campus in-person counselling programme,’ said the press release.
The NSU board of Trustees has decided to create an appropriate framework and platform for exchanging ongoing and periodic ideas, recommendations, and feedback between faculty, students, and administration, the press release added.
The NSU campus will be free from student politics of any political party. This is one of the founding principles of the NSU, and it will be strictly maintained,’ said Javed Muneer Ahmad, chairman of the NSU board of trustees.
