
People suffered on roads due to protests held by various groups blocking busy streets in the Dhaka city since Wednesday morning, which created heavy traffic congestion amid rain.聽聽
Vehicles were seen stuck for hours, and many people were seen walking to their destinations due to traffic jams at various points, including Green Road, Karwan Bazar, Farmgate, Shahbagh, Gulshan 2, and Mirpur.
Moreover, the rains, which began at midnight on Tuesday, continued throughout the day, worsening hardships faced by people.
Shop owners and employees of Bashundhara City Shopping Complex blocked a section of the road leading to the Karwan Bazar roundabout, demanding the resignation of the market鈥檚 in-charge, resulting in traffic jams in surrounding areas, including Greenroad, Panthapath and Sonargaon road leading to Hatirpool.聽聽聽
Salesperson Sharif, who identified himself as one of the 13 coordinators of the movement, told 抖阴精品 at around 3:30pm that they had been on the streets since 8:00am and would not leave until their demands are met.
The Traffic Gulshan Division posted on its Facebook page that students had gathered at the Gulshan-2 intersection, creating intense traffic jams.
As of 2:30pm, the gathering had moved away, but traffic had still not returned to normal, read another post by the Traffic Gulshan Division.
A Facebook user, however, posted a video in Traffic Alert group at about 5:00pm that another group of people again blocked a road in the Gulshan 2 roundabout area.聽
The Mirpur Darussalam Road was seen blocked at about 2:00pm by students of Model Academy School demanding resignation of their head teacher.聽
Vehicles were seen stuck in the Paltan area as the Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal, the youth wing of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, held a rally at around 5:00pm.
Traffic congestion was also reported throughout the day from Badda to Rampura, Motijheel, Kakrail, Press Club, Secretariat and Matsya Bhaban.聽聽
The Anti-Discrimination Teachers-Employees Unity Forum of schools for persons with disabilities held a sit-in at Bangladesh Secretariat at 9:00am, demanding their inclusion in the monthly payment order system.
The Shadharan Mats Shikkharthi Oikka Parishad formed a human chain blocking the road in front of the National Press Club and later continued their protest by blocking Hare Road until the afternoon, demanding reforms in the health sector.
Private employees of government collages were seen staging protest blocking Kakrail Road at around 12:15pm.聽
Staff and officials from the Election Commission鈥檚 IDEA 2 project held a sit-in starting at 8:00am in front of the Election Commission building in Agargaon demanding nationalisation of their outsourced jobs at the commission and reversal of the decision to place the National Identity Card administration under the Ministry of Home Affairs.
