
A Dhaka court remanded former chief of news of Ekattor TV Shakil Ahmed and his wife Farzana Rupa, former principal correspondent of the media, in police custody for four days in a murder case.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ahmed Humayun Kabir on Thursday passed the order after a 10-day remand plea in the case filed with Uttara East Police Station on Wednesday.
Shakil Ahmed and Farzana Rupa were detained at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka as they allegedly tried to leave the country on Wednesday.
They were scheduled to depart from Dhaka airport at 6:20am via Turkish Airlines to Paris via Istanbul.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police additional deputy commissioner Obaidur Rahman said that immigration officials detained them and handed them over to the detective branch.
An official of the special branch told 抖阴精品 that Shakil and Rupa were not given departure clearance as they were wanted in cases.
On August 8, Ekattor Television dismissed its head of news Shakil Ahmed and principal correspondent Farzana Rupa.
