
Bangladesh Nationalist Party standing committee member and former health and family welfare minister Khandker Mosharraf Hossain was acquitted in a money laundering case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission.
Judge Abul Kasehm of Dhaka special judge court-1 handed down the verdict acquitting him as the charges against him were not proved during the trial, said Mosharraf鈥檚 lawyer, Taherul Islam Touhid.
Expressing satisfaction, Mosharraf at the court premises told journalists that the courts should establish the truth and establish justice with honest courage.
On February 6, 2014, the ACC director Nasim Anwar filed the case against the BNP leader while he submitted a charge sheet against him on August 14 of the same year.
The court framed charges against him on October 28, 2015.聽According to the case, Mosharraf laundered more than Tk 9.5 crore in the United Kingdom鈥檚 Lloyd Bank during his tenure as minister from 2001 to 2006.
