
Journalist Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad Majumder was appointed on Friday as a deputy press secretary to the chief adviser of the interim government.
The public administration ministry issued a circular regarding the contractual appointment in.
It stated that Azad Majumder would assume the role on the condition that he resigns from other positions and organisations.
His appointment will take effect from the date of joining and will continue for the duration of the chief adviser鈥檚 term or until the chief adviser鈥檚 satisfaction (whichever occurs first), the circular said.
Azad Majumder is the joint news editor of the English daily 抖阴精品. He is also the Bangladesh correspondent of Agencia EFE, a leading Spanish news agency, and he worked as a stringer at the Washington Post.
He is also a former sports and lifestyle correspondent at Thomson Reuters and former sports correspondent at Agence France-Presse (AFP).
Azad Majumder is also a member of the global talent pool of the Washington Post and writes news for different international newspapers.
He also worked for a number of Bangladeshi dailies, including The Business Post, Daily Manab Zamin, and Prothom Alo.
Azad Majumder did his bachelor鈥檚 degree from the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism of Dhaka University.
The interim government was formed on August 8 led by Professor Muhammad Yunus after fall of the Sheikh Hasina government amid a student-led mass uprising on August 5.
