The newly appointed vice-chancellor of the University of Dhaka, Professor Niaz Ahmed Khan, on Wednesday hoped that the academic and other activities of the university would be fully operational within a week.

He made this statement while talking to journalists in his office.

Mentioning that there has never been a situation like this before, the VC said, ‘We are not waiting for a perfectly ideal situation to start. We will start as much as we can.’

Niaz Ahmed also said that his team was hopeful that they could start working fully within a week.

‘We are trying to begin the activities of the university with the consensus of everyone. That means, starting from the residential halls to academic activities, everything is our first goal,’ he added, mentioning, ‘There is a standstill in many parts of the university. We are trying to talk to everyone. ‘

This is a university for everyone, he mentioned, adding that his team had not taken over completely yet.

Earlier on Tuesday, during a view-exchange with the campus reporters on his appointment as the VC, Niaz Ahmed said that he did not belong to any political parties.
