
Six persons, including former deputy speaker Shamsul Haque Tuku and former state minister for posts, telecommunications and ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak and former deputy minister for sports and youths Arif Khan Joy on Sunday were placed on fresh remand for different period in several murder cases.
Besides, former Awami League organising secretary Ahmad Hossain, former chairman of the Chittagong Port Authority retired Rear Admiral Mohammad Sohail and AL鈥檚 student wing Bangladesh Chhatra League Dhaka University unit general secretary Tanveer Hasan聽 Saikat were also put on remand on the day.
A Dhaka metropolitan magistrate court placed Tuku, Joy and Sohail on three-day remand in a case filed over killing Ideal College student Khalid Hasan Saifullah during the Student Movement Against Discrimination in Lalbagh area on July 18.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Moinul Islam passed the order as Lalbagh police station sub-inspector Akkas Mia, also the investigating officer of the case, sought seven-day remand for interrogation.
The same court placed Ahmad and Saikat on a three-day remand as Adabor police station inspector Mintu Chandra Banik applied for a seven-day remand against them in a case filed over the killing of a readymade garment worker during the mass uprising in the capital鈥檚 Adabor area on August 5, Mintu confirmed the matter to 抖阴精品.
Palak, however, was placed on a three-day remand each in two separate murder cases filed with Badda and Sutrapur police stations of the capital by the same court.
