
Home adviser retired Lieutenant General Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said that the interim government would soon start re-investigating the killings into the rebellion in the erstwhile Bangladesh Rifles, now Border Guard Bangladesh, that took place in February 25–26, 2009.
‘The process of ensuring justice through re-investigation into the killings will begin soon,’ Jahangir said while taking to reporters at the secretariat after holding meeting with Swiss ambassador to Bangladesh Reto Renggli.
‘I demand justice of the carnage not only as the home adviser but also as a Bangladesh citizen and a former Bangladesh Army member,’ he said.
Jahangir said that the government was committed to ensure citizens’ rights, justice and good governance.
On August 16, 2024, victim families of BDR mutiny sent a statement to law adviser Asif Nazrul and home adviser Jahangir Alam Chowdhury demanding fresh probe to unearth the plot and plotters behind the carnage.
At least 75 people, including 57 army officers, were killed in the BDR mutiny.
