Leaders of the Ganatantra Mancha, a combine of six political parties, have called on the Muhammad Yunus-led interim government to give a roadmap for democratic transition in Bangladesh.

They made the call at the combine鈥檚 central steering committee meeting at the central office of Nagarik Oikya at Topkhana road in the capital on Sunday.

They said that after holding required reforms and introduction of good governance, the interim government should take preparations for holding a free, fair and credible general election.

The resolution of the meeting said that after the victory of the movement of student and people that forced Sheikh Hasina to resign, the people of the country had many aspirations to the interim government.

The interim government should perform reforms in constitution, administrations, holding trials of the killers of students and people during the movement and formation of a neutral Election Commission for holding credible general elections, the resolution said.

The interim government, moreover, should take justified time for holding the reforms with dialogue with the political parties, the leaders said.

Chaired by coordinator of the combine and also president of Nagarik Oikya Mahmudur Rahman Manna, the Revolutionary Workers Party general secretary Saiful Huq, Ganosamhati Andolan chief coordinator Zonayed Saki, Bhashani Onusari Parishad convener Sheikh Rafiqul Islam Bablu, Rastra Sanskar Andolan chief coordinator Hasnat Quaiyum and Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal-JSD general secretary Shahid Uddin Mahmod Shapon, among others, attended the meeting.
