A car driver injured in the clash between Ansar personnel and students in front of the secretariat in the capital died while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Wednesday.

The deceased, Mohammad Shaheen Howladar, 45, was a driver of rent-a-car hailing from Bagerhat.

The DMCH police outpost in-charge Mohammad Farooq said that relatives of Shaheen Howladar took his body without autopsy.

Mohammad Bishal, son of Shaheen, said that there was an office of rent-a-car nearby the secretariat, and his father used to work there.

He alleged that his father was beaten by the Ansar members during the clash between students and Ansar on August 25 night.

Shaheen was immediately taken to the DMCH on that night, and undergoing treatment at the hospital鈥檚 intensive care unit.

Around 40 people, mostly students, were injured in the clash as thousands of Ansar personnel kept all the entrances of the secretariat blocked even after the office hours pressing for nationalisation of their jobs, which led the clash with students.
