Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed will deliver a speech addressing lower court judges on September 21, when he will outline a roadmap focusing on the judiciary鈥檚 independence, institutional separation, and autonomy.
The announcement was made in a press release issued by Supreme Court public relations officer Mohammad Shafiqul Islam on Wednesday. This will mark the Chief Justice鈥檚 first formal meeting with subordinate court judges since his swearing-in on August 12.
The press release highlighted that the chief justice鈥檚 roadmap will expand on the themes of judicial independence and institutional autonomy, which he previously emphasised during his felicitation by the Supreme Court Bar Association, and the office of the Attorney General in a ceremony on August 12.
All judicial officers have been requested to attend the meeting, which is scheduled to take place at 10:00am on September 21 in the inner garden of the Supreme Court compound.
The event will also see the attendance of Supreme Court judges and other guests.
The CJ directed all chief judicial magistrates and chief metropolitan magistrates to ensure their presence.
They have been instructed to designate a senior judicial magistrate or senior metropolitan magistrate to manage their respective courts in their absence.
According to a senior officer from the Supreme Court鈥檚 registrar general鈥檚 office, the country currently has approximately 2,200 lower court judges.
