Twenty Six Bangladeshi artists are displaying their artworks in a four-day international group art exhibition titled Colombo Art Expo 2024.

The exhibition is under way at JDA Perera Gallery in Colombo of Sri Lanka.


Besides, participants join in an international art camp, visiting local artists’ studios, galleries, and art collectors of Sri Lanka.  

The expo, organised by the Bangladesh National Sculpture Gallery Artists Group in collaboration with the Faculty of the Visual Arts of University of the Visual and Performing arts, Colombo in Sri Lanka, was curated by artist and curator Md Imran Hossen.

The event is featuring 70 artworks including paintings, sculptures, ceramics, prints and photographs of 48 artists from 10 countries including Sri Lanka, India, Nepal, Singapore, Indonesia, Uzbekistan, and Mexico.

Artists, including Sultanul Islam, Shyamal Chandra Sarker, Mahfuza Beauty, Rubina Nargis, S M Mizanur Rahman,  Manabendra Ghosh, Shama Shaiom, Briget Gomes, Sumon Chandra Das, Mohammad Sujaul Abedeen, Aksha Konika, Aroni Chatterjee, Manashi Banik, Ziaul Hoque Raju, Zannatul Ferdus Keya, Maleka Sultana, Rebeka Neela Noman, Farida Yasmin Parveen, Imrooz Shimu, Pritom Chowdhury, Shobnam Chowdhury, Shreshtha Saha, Anik Barua, Khadijatul Kobra, Shamima Akther and Mohammd Asadurjaman Aslam Molla are participating in the exhibition from Bangladesh.  

‘This art expo serves not only as a platform for showcasing art but also as a catalyst for dialogue and collaboration. ‘International art workshops, engaging artists’ talks, and live demonstrations, are fostering an environment where artists and audiences can connect, learn, and share insights,’ said Md Imran Hossen.  

‘Our mission is to cultivate a global art community, bridging cultures and ideas through the transformative power of art. By collaborating with various organisations and individuals to promote international art connections, we aim to create lasting relationships that transcend borders,’ he added.  

The Indian Cultural Centre will collaborate with the Colombo Art Expo to host a special sculpture and painting demonstration event at the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre on September 10, 2024, in Colombo, Imran confirmed the matter to ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ·.

The expo inaugurated on Friday will end on September 10.
