Bangladesh Nationalist Party standing committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury on Saturday called upon all Paharis-Bengalis to work together as brothers, saying that terrorists and illegal occupants had no room in BNP.
‘No terrorists and illegal occupants have room in the BNP . . . If BNP comes to power in future, people will be happy. And I urge all Paharis-Bengalis to work together as brothers,’ he told a gathering in Khagrachari.
The senior BNP leader was speaking at a ‘relief distribution ceremony’, organised by the BNP’s associate body Bangladesh Jatiotabadi Swechchhasebak Dal at Dighinala Chhato Merung High School ground in the afternoon.
He said that BNP’s future politics would be only to materialise the ‘New Bangladesh’ in line with the dream of country’s national hero Tarique Rahman and to fulfil the expectations of the new generation as well.
Swechchhasebak Dal central president SM Jilani presided over the ceremony. Among others, Khagrachari district unit president of BNP Wadud Bhuiyan, Swechchhasebak Dal central committee general secretary Rajib Ahsan spoke.
Relief goods were distributed among 500 flood-affected families in different areas of the upazila.
On his way back, Amir Khasru visited the house of Rabiul Islam, local union committee president of the party, who was killed by Awami League activists in Dighinala.
