A Rajshahi University teacher was relieved of academic and examinations activities on Monday on charge of corruption, arbitrariness, money embezzlement, and misbehaving with the students.

The RU painting, oriental art and printmaking department chairperson Professor Boni Adam said that an associate professor of the department, Sujan Sen, was temporarily relieved of academic activities following students’ application.

Earlier, the department students lodged a written complaint with the RU vice-chancellor Professor Saleh Hasan Naqib, terming Sujan Sen as an ‘arbitrary, incompetent, and corrupt teacher’.

The students accused Sujan of widespread corruption, including misappropriation of money, misbehaving with students, and taking a stand against the students during the student-led mass uprising.

They also submitted another written application to the department chairperson, requesting him to relieve Sujan Sen of academic activities until the probe into their allegations was not completed.

Sujan Sen, however, could not be reached for his comment despite repeated attempts over the phone.
