The University Grants Commission chairman Professor Syed Muhammed Abul Faiz has said that an initiative has been taken to add the country’s universities to the Apostille myGov platform to verify the certificates of the students interested in pursuing higher education abroad.

He said this at a virtual meeting on Monday, said a press release.

On July 7, Bangladesh signed the Apostille Convention. Students and professionals intending to go abroad have the obligation to take necessary steps of attestation by certificate Apostille within January. Otherwise, public documents of Bangladesh will not be effective abroad, the press release noted.

Under the Apostille Convention, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Education, A2I of Ministry of ICT and the UGC will work on digital verification of certificates of students who want to go abroad through the ‘ApostilleMyGov’ platform, which will be finalised by December this year.

On this platform, students can easily apply for certificates and transcripts by submitting the application fee. The university will verify the student’s certificate information and send it to the UGC and foreign affairs ministry for verification. The QR code will be attached to the certificate digital attestation.
