A delegation from the American International University-Bangladesh has recently visited the Hochschule Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences in Darmstadt, Germany to discuss academic partnerships and collaborative initiatives.

The delegation, led by Ishtiaque Abedin, the AIUB board of trustees’ founder member, met with Professor Matthias Vieth, vice-president for studies, teaching, and student affairs at Hochschule Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences on Monday, said après release on Wednesday.


During the meeting, several key areas of collaboration were explored, including faculty exchange programmes, student exchange opportunities with part-time work options, joint research initiatives, scholarships, guest lectures, and dormitory facilities for students.

They expressed strong interest in expanding academic ties and addressing challenges faced by Bangladeshi students, such as long waiting periods for visas, added the press release.

The Hochschule Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences confirmed that a memorandum of understanding would be signed with the AIUB soon.

This agreement will formalise their commitment to working together on research and academic development.

In addition to the meeting, the AIUB delegation toured the laboratories, classrooms, and other facilities at the university, accompanied by Professor Krauß, vice-dean of the faculty of electrical engineering and information technology, and Professor Peter Fromm, head of the master’s programme, who also expressed their willingness to welcome more quality students from AIUB in future semesters.
