Fahima Khatun and Shamima Sultana led Bangladesh women’s A team to a seven-wicket victory over their Sri Lankan counterparts and go 1-0 up in the T20 series at P Sara Oval in Colombo on Thursday. 

Bangladesh restricted Sri Lanka to 112 from their 20 overs after leg-spinner Fahima inflicted a dramatic collapse up in the top order.


After being sent into bat by Bangladesh captain Rabeya Khan, Sri Lanka were in a comfortable position with 72-0 in 12 overs. But soon they collapsed to 88-6. 

Fahima took 3 wickets for just 12 runs, while Jahanara Alam, Sultana Khatun, Rabeya, and Ritu Moni took one wicket each.

Opener Kaushini Nuthyanga was the top scorer for Sri Lanka with 43 off 35 balls. 

After failing in the second and last one-day, Shamima made 48 runs from 44 balls with five fours and one six to take Bangladesh in a comfortable position.

After adding 40 runs in the opening partnership with Sathi Rani (20 off 22), Shamima further added 56 runs with Sobhana Mostary in the second wicket.

Sobhana scored 28 runs from 31 balls, while Murshida Khatun remained unbeaten on 11. 

Bangladesh A finished the game with seven balls remaining, losing three wickets.

The second T20 will be held today.Â
