She also said that they are fighting not only for themselves but also for others who couldn't stand by these helpless girls in this dangerous and distressing situation, to ensure no one else has to face such helplessness in the future.
Another student on the condition of anonymity said, "Why, as students of Dhaka University, should we be going door to door in Dhaka searching for a sublet? Either we should be provided seats in the halls, or other accommodation arrangements should be made for us."
Regarding this matter, Dhaka University Proctor Associate Professor Saifuddin Ahmed, told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ·, "a meeting was held with them in the presence of the Vice-Chancellor, Treasurer, and myself. We informed them that the seats would be allocated fairly."
"Mentioning the plan to increase seats, he said, 'It is true that there are not enough seats for female students in the girls' halls. We are considering increasing the number of seats.“
He also said that as a temporary solution, we are planning to renovate abandoned bungalows to accommodate students.
After the meeting with the university administration, the students have temporarily suspended their protest. The Proctor said that the students have made this decision after understanding the reality at the meeting.
