The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit on Wednesday asked banks to freeze accounts owned by Orion Group chairman Obaidul Karim and its managing director and his son Salman Obaidul Karim.
BFIU sent a letter to the banks and asked them to follow the instructions.
Additionally, the bank accounts of Obaidul Karim鈥檚 wife Arzuda Karim and their daughter Zareen Karim, both directors of Orion Group, also were included in the directive.
Besides, banks accounts of two other relatives linked to the group 鈥� Mehadi Hasan and Rezaul Karim 鈥� will also be frozen.
The BFIU directed the banks to keep the individuals鈥� accounts frozen for 30 days.
The agency also asked banks to block their locker and credit card facilities for same period.
The banks were asked to provide updated information on the six officials of Orion Group to find out if they are using any bank accounts under other names.
